Activities Department

We have a proud tradition of excellence in extracurricular activities. Approximately 75% of our students participate in at least one activity.

Business Services

Our Business Services Department ensures the District’s financial integrity and stability by developing annual and multi-year budgets. Additionally, this department is responsible for enrollment and staffing projections and allocations, purchasing and procurement, accounting, and payroll.

Child Care Department

Our District offers fee-based before and after-school child care programming in our elementary schools. All kindergarten through fifth-grade students are eligible to enroll. Most schools host a program called Beyond the Bell, but a couple of schools have before and after-school care providers through our partner — the Waukee YMCA. Our child care program also offers a summer program at select locations. All staff members are certified in CPR/First Aid.

Communications Department

Our communications team strives to help our departments and school buildings connect to parents and guardians, students, and the community in impactful ways. This department manages the website, podcast, social media, media, logos and branding, ParentSquare, District-level newsletters, and sponsorships.

Community Education

Through learning and serving, Community Education aims to help our society thrive. Our community education team handles year-round classes and camps, intramural sports, silver cord volunteer efforts, and facility rentals.

Human Resources

Human Resources supports approximately 2,000 staff members dedicated to providing quality instruction to all students. Additionally, The department oversees substitutes, teacher practicums, and harassment/bullying. Join our team and make a difference!

Nutrition Services

By the end of this school year, approximately 1.75 million meals will be served to staff and students in the Waukee CSD. All school meals meet federal nutrition standards by offering fruits and vegetables, serving whole grain-rich foods, and limiting fat, calories, and sodium. Nutrition Services develops delicious menu options and handles applications for meal assistance. If you want to add money to a child’s lunch account, you may do that in RevTrak.

Operations Department

The Operations Department oversees the management and function of the infrastructure for all District facilities and grounds, which are used until almost 9 p.m. every night. These support staff members also handle construction oversight, mowing, and snow removal. Operations also works with surplus property through a contract with GovDeals, Inc. — an online auction service.

Technology Department

The Technology Department helps maintain a safe and ethical digital environment where our learning community can develop and reinforce the critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and communication skills needed to be life-long learners. This department provides software support for all District-approved applications and is responsible for data and voice networks.

Transportation Services

Our District works with Durham School Services to provide bus transportation. Most often, parents and guardians sign up for busing during registration. However, if your plans change, you can work with Durham to meet your needs. There are busing and walking zones, which are determined by your primary address.
