You’ll quickly see our staff put our mission into action to provide a quality, age-appropriate early childhood education that nurtures every child as an individual, empowers them as learners, and celebrates their unique talents and abilities. Our inclusive program welcomes special education students aged 3-5 years old. All preschool classes meet at the Vince Meyer Learning Center at 430 Ashworth Drive, Waukee, IA 50263. This no-cost program is funded through the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Grant, which allows families to attend tuition-free.

Preschool Details

  • Students meet four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday)
  • All students must be 4 years old by Sept. 15 of the enrolling school year to attend
  • Classes meet either during mornings 9-11:30 a.m. or afternoons 1-3:30 p.m.

Timeline

January:
On Tuesday, Jan. 14, begin submitting the required paper documents (see below) to Vince Meyer Learning Center at 430 Ashworth Dr., Waukee, IA 50263.

Late March:
The online enrollment portal opens. An email with directions on completing the online enrollment process is sent to the first e-mail address listed on the cover sheet.

Late Spring: Families will be notified whether their preschooler is in the morning or afternoon session.

April: Parent Info Night will be held. This parent-only event is for adults to learn more about the ins and outs of a school day.

August: Teachers visit their students. This is a state requirement and allows teachers to meet their students at a comfortable location — either at home or a nearby park.  The open house for preschool will be on August 28, 2025.

Required Paperwork

Staff member helping preschool student with her backpack.Please plan to begin the enrollment process in January by turning in the required documents to the Vince Meyer Learning Center at 430 Ashworth Dr. Waukee, IA 50263. All required documents may be attached to an email (rmccartan@waukeeschools.org) or dropped off in person. There’s a drop box right next to the front door of the Vince Meyer Learning Center. If emailing and attaching, please scan documents (PDF) — no photos or images.

In late March, an email will be sent to the email listed on the cover sheet with a code to complete the online portion of the enrollment process. If you submit your enrollment paperwork after March, you’ll receive that code in your email roughly 48 hours later.

  • Online Directions and Registration Cover Sheet
  • Proof of Residency – Students must be residents of the Waukee Community School District or file the appropriate paperwork.
    • Homeowner: a copy of your most recently paid property tax bill, copy of recent mortgage statement, or printout from the Dallas County Assessor’s Site.
    • Renting: a copy of your signed lease agreement. The agreement must be signed by both parties and list the tenants and current terms.
    • If you have made an offer on a home: a copy of the purchase agreement as well as a completed Permission to Enroll Out of District Students Application. If you have recently closed on a home: a copy of the settlement statement.
  • Home Language Survey
  • Certificate of most recent immunization record to be completed by the Physician or Medical Immunization Exemption Form to be signed by the Physician or Religious Immunization Exemption Form to be notarized
