Waukee School Board Appoints Jerry Ripperger to Vacant Position

Jerry Ripperger

Jerry Ripperger

Jerry Ripperger was appointed to Waukee Community School District’s school board at the July 11, 2016 meeting. Ripperger is filling the seat left vacant by Scott Blum who resigned after accepting a new position as Dallas Center-Grimes High School principal.

The seat opening was posted in the Dallas County News earlier this month. Board members discussed potential appointees along with rationale behind each before coming to consensus on Ripperger. Ripperger will serve the remainder of Blum’s term which ends at next school board election, September 5, 2017

Ripperger is no stranger to Waukee Community School District’s school board. Ripperger decided not to run for re-election in 2015 after serving eight years on the board. Jerry and his wife Karen have lived in the Waukee Community School District since 1994 and both of their daughters are Waukee High School graduates.

Ripperger will be sworn in at the August 8 regular meeting. Waukee Community School District’s board meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at Waukee District Office – Board Room, 560 SE University Ave., Waukee, IA 50263.
