Waukee Walnut Hills Second Grade Students Donate to Lovejoy Elementary
As a way to give back to those in need, the second graders at Waukee’s Walnut Hills Elementary donated gifts to the second grade classes at Lovejoy Elementary.
Lovejoy is a Des Moines school partnering with the Walnut Hills PTO for assistance. After contacting the second grade teachers at Lovejoy, the Walnut Hills students, parents and teachers decided to provide a bit of holiday cheer for the Des Moines students. Walnut Hills parents signed up to donate gift items for every Lovejoy second grader: books, candy, gloves, and a tie blanket.
Last Thursday morning the students put the gift bags together in assembly line fashion. Students, parents and teachers cut, tied and assembled over 55 gift bags for the Lovejoy second graders, including many extra blankets. The Walnut Hills teachers will be delivering the items to Lovejoy elementary just before holiday break.
