WHS Theatre Arts Presents Peter and the Starcatcher

Waukee High School Theatre Arts is excited to present Peter and the Starcatcher. Performances will run Thursday, Oct. 5 and Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m., as well as Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Prairieview Theatre Arts Center.

The play is based on the book series Peter and the Starcatcher, which is a prequel to Peter Pan. It tells the story of how Peter got his name, Hook lost his hand and how the characters originated and developed on the island.

“This show could not be more fun to work on. The script is hilarious yet poignant. The show has action, adventure, romance, comedy. The story and characters are super relatable and fun. Anyone can come see this show and find something to connect with,” said Nathan Jorgenson, fall play director.

Preparation for the show started in May when auditions were held, and cast and crew were selected. The cast came back in August with their lines rehearsed, and ready to begin preparation for the show as a group.

More than 140 students are an integral part of the show. Students are acting, building sets, designing costumes and makeup and recording sounds. The students have spent more than 100 hours in rehearsal.

This is the first time the show has been performed in the Des Moines Metro Area. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at  seatyourself.biz/waukeetheatrearts.

Peter and the Starcatcher is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com
