Waukee Students Win Third District Congressional App Challenge

A team of four students at Prairieview School, in the Waukee Community School District, won this year’s Third District Congressional App Challenge with their app FastLane. This app helps students and parents monitor school bus routes, pickup times,  and alerts them to changes in the schedule.

Owen Scott, Arya Karnik, Sean Eastman, and Kristen Stone, Prairieview students, created FastLane to give parents a sense of security knowing their child was making it to the school bus and ultimately to school on time.

FastLane was selected out of nine total app submissions from across the Third District. The Congressional App Challenge is an annual competition which encourages students to engage in STEM learning. Winners in each Congressional District will travel to Washington, D.C. to present their apps to Members of Congress and technology professionals.
