Waukee Theatre Arts Presents: Cinderella


Announcing the grand and enchanting musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. This magical production hits the stage at Waukee High School April 11–14, 2019. Curtain is at 7 p.m. on April 11-13. Additional matinees are on April 13 at 1 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. (Please note the different matinee times). Tickets may be purchased for $10 each at whscinderella.com beginning February 15 or on-site the night of the show at the Waukee High School Auditorium, 555 SE University Ave., Waukee, IA 50263. This musical is intended for all ages.

Cinderella longs to be a part of the world around her but is kept busy with different tasks by her demanding stepmother and stepsisters. However, there comes a day when Prince Topher invites everyone to a Royal Palace Ball, leading Cinderella to stop dreaming of the life she could have, but instead discover it herself. With help from her friends and a witty Fairy Godmother, Cinderella is prepared to not only attend the Ball but to speak her mind about the injustices in the world around her.

Audiences are sure to be captivated by this new spin on a familiar storyline. It is the work of young students backstage that is paralleled by the incredible talent displayed onstage, as student actors, crew members, and designers help bring this show to life.

Waukee High School Theatre Arts presents Cinderella, featuring direction by Chelsea Haaland with music direction by Kathryn Mosiman, choreography by David Decker, technical direction by Tracy Stewart, pit direction by Joshua Deutmeyer, and designs by Alex Snodgrass. With music by Richard Rodgers and a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, this musical is truly an artistic masterpiece. Cinderella is presented through special arrangement with R & H Theatricals.
