Administrative Staffing Updates

Waukee Community School District (CSD) is excited to announce enhancements to several administrative positions. As Waukee CSD grows at a rapid pace, it was the right time to evaluate positions and make improvements.

The Chief Operations Officer position at Waukee CSD has been revised to reflect the need for continuous growth and leadership in the district. The position will encompass an expanded role within the organization and now oversee information technology (IT), nutrition, operations, community education, construction and the overall operational growth of our district.

Kirk Johnson has been appointed as Chief Operations Officer (COO) starting July 1, 2019. Johnson is currently the associate superintendent for Waukee CSD, a position he has held since 2016. Johnson brings 14 years of building and district-level school administration experience. He holds a BA in Business Education, Masters in Educational Administration and a Specialist (Superintendent) in Educational Administration.

In addition, Dr. Lindsay Law has accepted the shared position of assistant principal at Radiant Elementary, opening August 2019, and Director of Curricular Arts and Student Equity. The Director of Curricular Arts and Student Equity position is new to the district, where Law will focus on providing professional learning around equity and diversity, as well as facilitating development and implementation of related arts curriculum.

Law has been with the district since 2012 in school improvement roles. She is currently the Director of Teaching and Learning along with Ali Locker. These positions have been divided to focus on grade levels to better serve our district. Locker will assume the role of Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning.

Waukee CSD will begin the process of hiring successors for associate superintendent during the next few weeks, as well as the Director of Teaching and Learning for secondary grade levels.

Congratulations to Kirk, Lindsay, and Ali!
