Five Students Participate in 2019 Iowa ProStart® Invitational

Congratulations to Jace Fogle, Noah Miller, Cameron Flood, Ethan Willis and Nate Wilson from the ProStart program at Waukee High School who participated in the culinary competition at the 2019 Iowa ProStart® Invitational on February 26. The Iowa Restaurant Association Education Foundation hosted the competition at the Iowa Events Center.

The Iowa ProStart Invitational is the High School Culinary and Restaurant Management State Championship, hosted by the Iowa Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Students were given one hour to create a three-course meal in this Top Chef-style competition. Teams are judged and critiqued on product taste, knife skills, teamwork, safety and sanitation, menu and recipe development, costing and more.

The top teams in both the culinary and management portions earn thousands of dollars in scholarships to put toward their post-secondary education. The champions also advance to represent Iowa at the National ProStart Invitational.
