Get Involved with the Show! Cinderella K-5 Opportunities


Waukee Theatre Arts is excited to announce there are now three ways for K-5 students to get involved with this magical spring production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, which will hit the high school stage April 11–14, 2019.

K-5 COLORING CONTEST

Waukee CSD students in grades K-5 may enter a Cinderella coloring contest! Entries will be displayed in the lobby of Waukee High School during performances of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella  April 11-14. There are three age divisions; the company of Cinderella will pick the winners the week of April 8. Each winner will receive two free tickets to the Sunday, April 14 matinee of the show!

3rd-5th GRADE MUSICAL THEATRE CLINIC

Students in grades 3-5 may join us for a Musical Theatre Clinic on Saturday, March 30 from 8:45 am-Noon! Students will get a behind-the-scenes look at the technical components of the show, they’ll learn a song and dance from the show, and then they’ll perform on the mainstage for their parents at noon! It’s a great sneak peek at the show and is also a fundraiser for Waukee Theatre Arts. Pre-registration required by March 27.

BREAKFAST WITH A PRINCESS

All young princes and princesses are invited to don their royal attire and come have breakfast with a princess on Saturday, April 13 from 8:30-10:30 am! A very special guest will arrive to share a story and pose for photos; a carnival with crafts and games will open after breakfast as well. This ticketed event is a fundraiser for Waukee Theatre Arts, and recommended for ages 4 – 2nd grade. Pre-registration required by April 6.

Cinderella Performances:

The curtain is at 7 p.m. on April 11-13. Additional matinees are on April 13 at 1 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m. (Please note the different matinee times). Tickets may be purchased for $10 each online or on-site the night of the show at the Waukee High School Auditorium, 555 SE University Ave., Waukee, IA 50263. This musical is intended for all ages.
