WHS Mock Trial Team Qualifies for State Tournament
Congratulations to the Waukee High School Mock Trial team for qualifying for the State Mock Trial Tournament in April. The team placed third out of 38 teams to earn their automatic bid to the state tournament at the 2019 Regional Competition on March 6. Five teams from Timberline, Prairieview, and Waukee High School competed at regionals this year.
Mock trial is designed to introduce students to our legal system by providing a challenging, academic competition. The program offers students an opportunity for personal growth and achievement, emphasizing the importance of research, presentation and teamwork. Lawyers from communities throughout Iowa contribute their time as coaches and judges at the tournaments.
The State Mock Trial Tournament is April 4 and 5 at the Iowa Events Center. Winners of the state competition have the opportunity to compete at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Athens, GA in May.
