Boys’ Soccer Wins Back to Back Titles


The top-ranked and undefeated Waukee Warrior Boys Soccer Team beat second-ranked Iowa City West 3-1 in the title match to win the Class 3A State Championship for the second straight year.  It was the school’s fourth state title in boys soccer. Warriors also won state titles in 1999 and 2001 as a 1A program.

Warriors entered the state tournament with a record of 19-0 after beating Des Moines Hoover in the sub-state final 5-0. They defeated Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Bettendorf by identical 3-0 scores in the quarter and semi-final rounds. In the championship game, the Warriors scored two first-half goals, added an insurance goal early in the second half and cruised to a 3-1 victory. The win improved the team’s consecutive game winning streak to 28 games.

Four players were named to the all-tournament team led by Trevor Jones who was named captain.  Other all-tournament selections were Edi Cokovic, Justin Crawmer, and Wesley Sanders
