Warrior Softball Finishes State Runner-up


The Warrior Softball Team finished off a very successful 2019 season with a runner-up finish at the state tournament losing to West Des Moines Valley in the final.  The Warriors, who finished the season with an impressive 40-4 record, advanced to the state tournament with wins in regional play over Council Bluffs Lincoln 14-0 and Sioux City North 9-0.

At state, Warriors opened with an 8-0 over Ottumwa in the quarter-finals before defeating Johnston 3-1 in the semifinals, setting up a finals matchup against cross-town rival Valley.  It was the seventh time the Warriors have played in the state championship game. In the championship game, they led 4-2 in the 4th inning but could not hold the lead and lost 8-5.

The Warriors were the CIML Iowa Conference champion and their 40 wins were the second-highest victory total in school history.
