Waukee Theatre Arts Presents: As You Like It and Much Ado About Nothing
Waukee Theatre Arts is proud to present two timeless Shakespearean classics, As You Like It and Much Ado About Nothing on October 3-13, 2019 at the Waukee Theatre Arts Center.
These plays are friendly for audiences of all ages! Curtain is at 7 p.m. for Much Ado About Nothing on October 3 and 11 and will perform at 2 p.m. on October 5. As You Like It will perform at 7 p.m. on October 4 and 10 and will perform at 2 p.m. on October 13. Tickets can be purchased for $8 online.
MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING: When Don Pedro, Prince of Aragon, returns from war, he stops with his men at the house of Governor Leonata. Count Claudio, one of the Prince’s men, falls in love with Leonata’s daughter. Jealous of Hero, the Prince’s sister, Donna, plots to besmirch Hero’s reputation before the wedding. When Donna’s attendants succeed in convincing the Prince & Claudio that Hero is unfaithful, Claudio makes a scene at the wedding.
AS YOU LIKE IT: Duke Senior, beloved by the people, has been overthrown and banished from his land to the Forest of Arden by his sister, Duke Fredericka. Fredericka then banishes her niece Rosalind, Duke Senior’s daughter. Rosalind, with her cousin Celia, retreats in disguise to the Forest of Arden where they hope to avoid the wrath of Duke Fredericka. In the forest, Rosalind, Celia, and their fool, Touchstone, find love among the trees and the banished Duke’s followers.
