District Scores Higher than Iowa’s No. 1 Average ACT Score

Iowa’s ACT average composite score tied for first in the country among states that tested more than half of students in the Class of 2019 according to ACT’s national release of assessment results. The ACT Profile Report also revealed Waukee Community School District continues to score higher than the state’s average.

The 2019 Graduation Class ACT Profile Report – High School, summarizes the academic preparations and performance of the district’s 2019 graduates who took the ACT as sophomores, juniors or seniors and achieved a college reportable composite score. The report is based on each graduating student’s most recent test information within September 2016 through July 2019 test dates. During that time, 501 Waukee High Students students took the test and earned an average composite score of 23.0.

Iowa and South Dakota had an average composite score of 21.6 out of a possible 36. Iowa’s score declined slightly from the previous year (21.8), but remains well above the national average (20.7). The 22,965 Iowa students who took the ACT represent 66 percent of last spring’s graduating class.
