Return to Learn – 11.9 Board Meeting and Presentation Notes
School Board Notes (11.9)
The Waukee School Board held a scheduled meeting on Monday, November 9.
Superintendent Dr. Brad Buck presented updated COVID-19 information to the board. RTL Board Meeting Nov. 9
The School Board meeting live stream is also attached to this article.
Following the meeting
Dr. Buck sent the following message to Waukee families:
At tonight’s Board meeting, the Board of Directors approved the district’s recommendation to submit a waiver to the Iowa Department of Education to temporarily transition online for the following schools; Prairieview School, Timberline School, and Waukee Middle School. It was also approved by the Board to move South Middle School online mid-week.
A second motion was approved indicating that if a school drops below 84% Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and Dallas County remains over a 15% positivity rate (we are currently 18.9%), that school will transition to fully online. And, once that occurs, we will seek the waiver for the two-week move to online for that or those schools. As a support, we have added the daily attendance for our schools to our data page as a resource. As you would expect, Waukee CSD consistently monitors the impact of COVID-19 throughout our district.
Please start making and/or solidifying arrangements for your family should the need to transition arise including; childcare, work schedules, and online learning environments. Data and numbers change every day and we could make this decision very quickly, not allowing us the ability to give families much notice prior to the change in learning environments.
As you can see we are working on real-time decisions as it impacts our students and staff. Thank you for remaining supportive of our district.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Buck, Superintendent
