Career Day at Timberline

Colleges, robots and firefighters.  Sounds like a great start to career day at Timberline.  8th and 9th grade students had a chance to learn from professionals this week.

“I’ve learned about engineering and woodworking,” says 8th grader Jessica Kratky. “I’ve learned about how to manage your time in college.”

“I learned about APEX on the finance side,” adds 9th grader Tyler Nguyen. I was just in the culinary class and learned about her experience going through the class and how enjoyable it was.

For students at Timberline, these stories and these experiences can be incredibly powerful.

“I was hoping to learn something new that I thought could be a good career for me,” says Nguyen. “Something I could expand and share with my friends.”

Even though these students still have a couple of years to make these big decisions, there are lessons learned that can help get them ready.

“I have so many options to go to if I were to fail in one or not like it,” says Nguyen. “I understand that there is something else in the world that would be perfect for me.”
