New Look News at Brookview Elementary

There’s a new way to stay updated on the news at Brookview Elementary.

“We are just making it so everybody can catch up on information about the school,” says Alexander Lazutkin.

These are things that every student at BV needs to know.

“Like the lost and found, it’s getting pretty big, so we are telling them if you’ve lost something, look in there,” shares Lazuktin.

With an assist from Mrs. Angelino (Brookview Principal) and Mrs. Taggart (Brookview Assistant Principal), these videos are produced by 4th grader Alexander Lazutkin. Alexander has a video team of fellow students helping him produce the Brookview Weekly News. His TV job, now has leadership responsibilities.

“When I got to be the coach it was a little challenging because I’ve never coached anyone before,” adds Lazutkin. “It was challenging, but now it’s easy and fun.”

The group gets together during recess a couple of times each week and has turned the announcement show into must see TV.

“We are doing fun facts,” says Alexander. “We are asking teachers about their name, their job and fun facts, some of them I didn’t know.”

From fun facts, to birthday shout outs, Brookview students are getting the news they need, from one of their own.

“They think I’m lucky because I get to do fun things that not a lot of people do,” says Lazutkin.

As much fun as he’s having and as good as these videos are, especially for a 4th grader, TV news is not something Alexander is planning to do after Brookview.

“I don’t really want to be a TV reporter,” he says.  “I want to be an engineer at NASA.”
