Combined Waukee Boys Swim Team Wins State!
The Waukee and Northwest Combined Boys Swim Team traveled to Iowa City to compete in the IHSAA State Swim Meet where they earned their third consecutive state championship win. The team also broke the school record for most points ever scored at the state meet with a total of 304 points.
Along with the team’s overall state win, we are celebrating state winners from three individual events.
- 200 Free Relay: Asher Havenhill, Cooper Rogers, Sam Davey, AJ Abram (New School Record) 1:23.17
- 100 Backstroke: Asher Havenhill 49.20
- 400 Free Relay: AJ Abram, James Coffey, Cooper Rogers, Sam Davey 3:05.75
There were also five events that qualified for All-American Consideration.
James Coffey (Northwest) and Cooper Rogers (Waukee) were also named as Senior Scholastic athletes from the meet.
The team coined the phrase “One Last Swim as Won” through their final season as a combined team, and it remained true all throughout the year as they won their 5th state title in the past eight years. Even with the team splitting, both schools have promising futures ahead of them and a built-in support system from the other.
Congratulations to all those involved!
