Waukee High School Recognized as an Apple Distinguished School

Waukee High School (WHS) has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for the 2023–2026 program term. WHS was selected for this distinction based on its commitment to continuous innovation in education and using Apple products to create exemplary learning practices.

What is an Apple Distinguished School?

“We are extremely proud to receive the Apple Distinguished School designation,” said Cary Justmann, WHS Principal. “This designation highlights our ongoing commitment to providing our students with the best possible educational experience.”

Apple Distinguished Schools are recognized as some of the most innovative in the world. These schools are centers of leadership and educational excellence, with a clear vision for how technology-rich environments support learning goals. In Apple Distinguished Schools, forward-thinking leaders and their communities work to inspire, imagine, and impact teaching and learning, and they have documented results of academic accomplishments.

Why Was WHS Selected?

Like schools all over the world, WHS uses iPads and Macs to transform learning. As teachers incorporate technology into their lessons, they empower students to lead, learn, and thrive, to discover new opportunities, and to make their world a better place.

“We believe that technology has the power to enhance education and provide students with opportunities that will set them up for success on whatever path they choose,” said Erica Beals, WHS Instructional Coach. “Being recognized as an Apple Distinguished School reinforces our dedication to providing an education that prepares students for the opportunities and challenges of a future that does not yet exist.”

WHS will celebrate this achievement with a series of events throughout the upcoming academic year, including workshops, presentations, and demonstrations of the innovative ways in which technology is integrated into the curriculum.
