Timberline Student Awarded 2023 John Lewis Youth Leadership Award

SirMichael Carrington Williams-Thomas, a Timberline School 9th grader, has recently been honored with the 2023 John Lewis Youth Leadership Award. Paul Pate, Iowa’s Secretary of State, selected him personally for the award out of a pool of nominees.

The award recognizes gifted youth who commit to addressing civil rights issues. It honors those who dedicate themselves to fighting for these rights and working to improve the communities around them. Not only did Carrington win the award, but at 14, he is the youngest person to win! His demonstrations of leadership, kindness, and passion for social justice made him a clear choice.
