Waukee CSD at the 2024 Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards


Des Moines Performing Arts hosted nominees for the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards (IHSMTA). Waukee’s “SPAMALOT” and Northwest’s “Mean Girls” both have numerous nominations and honors to celebrate. Both schools performed at the IHSMTA program on May 30, 2024, at the Des Moines Civic Center.


The ensemble of Monty Python’s SPAMALOT performed an excerpt from their production at the Showcase, in celebration of the school’s receipt of an Outstanding Musical Production Award – the program’s highest honor.

Senior students Alex Siegle and Noah Kohtz represented Waukee Theatre Arts by performing in a collaborative inter-school medley led by a guest Broadway music director and choreographer.

Max Ferguson, Selma Fetić, Everlyn Jordan, Ethan Mitchell, Idaly Muñoz, and Atiana Pilipovic showcased their award-winning work as part of the program’s Behind-The-Scenes Awards track.

    • Special Recognition in a Behind-the-Scenes Role – Josephine Hallagin as Paint Charge
    • Special Recognition in a Behind-the-Scenes Role – Rylee Haas for Props Design

Jack Andersen, Tilynne Cartmill, Paige Olson, and Greta Paulson appeared in the triple threat medley.

Jack Andersen and Paige Olson were selected to perform “A Cautionary Tale” from Mean Girls in a spotlight medley.

Sydeny LePorte and Frank Morris were also featured during the finale medley.
