2024 Iowa Local Food Day Celebrations

Waukee Community School District recently celebrated Iowa Local Food Day on Sept. 25 by serving local foods and supporting 18 area producers and businesses. Our District is passionate about helping students connect with their food and the people who grow and produce it. Check out these photos of some Waukee Elementary students enjoying the meal.

Some local food items included eggs, yogurt, watermelon, cheese cubes, cheese sticks, butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, hot dogs, maple syrup, hot sauce, bell peppers, hummus, cucumbers, and apples. At Sugar Creek Elementary, student volunteers helped hand out the delicious local apples!
