New Student Representatives Welcomed to School Board

20241014 183119Waukee Community School District is pleased to welcome Anisha Choudhary of Waukee Northwest High School and Satvika Anbukumar of Waukee High School as the 2024-25 Waukee CSD School Board student representatives. The students were sworn in by President Wendy Marsh at the Oct. 14 meeting.

Anisha is involved in Student Council, NSDA Speech and Debate, Mock Trial, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and several nonprofit boards. She enjoys going to football games, hanging out with friends, and being involved in her community. “When I am older, I hope to pursue a career in law and public policy,” Anisha says. “I am honored to represent Northwest because I am passionate about youth advocacy.”

Satvika is involved in tennis, Future Health Professionals (HOSA), robotics, Environmental and International Club, and various other clubs. In her free time, Satvika enjoys hiking with her dog, traveling, and reading. “I am excited to be the WHS student board representative so I can share my love for Waukee and help amplify my peers’ voices, while collaborating on initiatives that will make our District a more supportive community,” she says.

This is the second year the Waukee CSD School Board has included student representatives. While the students are non-voting members of the board, they attend each board meeting to give updates on behalf of their schools, advocate for their classmates’ ideas, and provide a student perspective during board discussions. The students are also tasked with communicating board decisions back to their peers.

Anisha and Satvika were selected following an intensive application process, which included gathering letters of support from classmates, staff, and community members, as well as participating in interviews with the high schools’ respective selection committees. The students will serve on the board until Fall 2026.
