2024 Fall Sports Recap
The fall season has come to an end and Waukee CSD is celebrating the accomplishments of our student-athletes! Check out the highlights from Waukee High School and Northwest High School fall varsity sports:
Volleyball:
WHS and NWHS teams qualified for the state tournament. NWHS finished as state runner-up! WHS Coach Candice Palea was named the 5A West District Coach of the Year, and Waukee CSD had three volleyball players named to all-state teams:
- Logan Vogt (NWHS) 1st Team – All-State
- Avery Vogt (NWHS) 3rd Team – All-State
- Malia Rogers (WHS) 3rd Team – All-State
Girls Swimming:
In their first season as separate teams, WHS and NWHS both qualified for state! NWHS finished as state runner-up and won three individual events:
- 100 backstroke – Hayden Bailey
- 100 butterfly – Hayden Bailey
- 200 IM – Willa Hage
Cross Country:
For the second year in a row, all cross country teams at WHS and NWHS qualified for state! Three Waukee CSD student-athletes were selected to all-state teams:
- Michelle Mcconkey (WHS) 2nd Team – All-State
- Allison Sheriff ( NWHS) 2nd Team – All-State
- Zack Janulewicz (NWHS) 2nd Team – All-State
Boys Golf:
NWHS finished their season as third in the CIML conference rankings, and WHS won the CIML conference meet. Jonathan Ward (WHS) was selected as 1st Team – All-State.
Esports:
NWHS finished as state runner-up in Super Mario Smash Bros!
Football:
WHS finished their season with trip to the playoffs. Several WHS and NWHS players earned all-state honors this season:
- Jordon Green (NWHS) 1st Team – All-State
- Carter Johnson (WHS) 1st Team – All-State
- Grant Gammell (WHS) 2nd Team – All-State
- Beckett Bakker (WHS) 2nd Team – All-State
- Evan Jacobson (WHS) 2nd Team – All-State
- Andrew Hine (WHS) 2nd Team – All-State
