Test Results: Waukee CSD Schools Safe from Radon
Test results at five Waukee CSD schools show radon levels are safe for students and staff. The Energy Association of Iowa Schools says the levels are some of the lowest building-wide results they’ve ever seen! All were well under the Environmental Protection Agency’s action level of 4.0 pCi/L.
Our operations crew helped facilitate week-long testing at five schools earlier this month.

Waukee CSD buildings are tested on a five-year rotation, as required by law. These tests are important because radon is a gas that can’t be seen, smelled, or tasted. It moves upward from the soil beneath a building through cracks and other openings in the foundation. In the U.S., radon is the leading cause of lung cancer deaths among nonsmokers.
It’s also important to test your home for radon. Find out more about how to do that on the EPA’s website.
