Get to know Principal Robie

I am fortunate to serve students and staff as the principal of Grant Ragan Elementary. I’m proud to work alongside talented teachers as we work towards Waukee’s vision, inspiring learners who feel valued, challenged, and prepared to embrace tomorrow’s opportunities.

I received my B.A. in elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1999, an M.S. in education from Michigan State University in 2005, and an M.Ed. in educational administration from Iowa State University in 2015. I hold teaching endorsements in K-6 elementary teaching, K-12 talented and gifted, K-8 reading, and K-8 science.

I have served as the Grant Ragan principal since 2017. Previously, I served as an assistant principal, instructional coach, ELP teacher, and elementary classroom teacher. I am also a past president of the Iowa Talented and Gifted Association (ITAG). My wife Jann is a physical therapist in Ames, and we are the proud parents of three sons, Luke, Nicholas, and Jack.
