Due to inclement weather, Waukee CSD has canceled school for Wednesday, Feb. 12. All activities, child care, Community Education classes, and facility rentals are canceled. The District Office will be closed. Wednesday’s breakfast and lunch menu will be served on Thursday; Friday will return to the regularly scheduled meals.

Get to know Principal Marzen
Welcome to Shuler Elementary School! I am Dr. Ryan Marzen, and I feel incredibly lucky to be the principal of a fantastic staff and community.
Before joining Shuler, I earned a Bachelor’s (B.A.) in elementary education and history from Buena Vista University in 2012. In the fall of 2012, I started my career teaching first grade and coaching at Denison Community School District. During that time, I earned a Master’s in Education (M.Ed.) in educational administration from South Dakota State University. In 2017, I began serving as Associate Principal at Perry Elementary School and moved into the principal position in 2021. Shortly after, I earned my Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from Drake University.
My wife, Jennifer, a previous professional school counselor, now takes care of our two sons, Ezekiel and Elijah, as a stay-at-home mom. We are excited to partner with your child(ren) as they… Dream. Wonder. Shine.
