Get to know Principal Barry
Welcome to Walnut Hills! My name is Doug Barry, and I feel so privileged to serve as Principal here!
I earned my teaching degree at the University of Northern Iowa and spent a year at the University of Oregon during this time. While teaching in North Kansas City, I earned my master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Over the past 13 years, I served as the principal at both Maple Grove and South Middle School and the assistant principal between Maple Grove and Eason.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three sons. We love to be outside, travel, play disc golf, golf, or pickleball, and cheer on our favorite teams: Oregon Ducks, Northern Iowa Panthers, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
I feel so fortunate to be able to serve the Walnut Hills community this year and be able to work alongside an amazing group of students, teachers, and parents throughout the entire Waukee School District!
